We are providing this Proposition 19 flyer to help you find out whether you may be able to take advantage of this Proposition to move anywhere in California and keep your current property tax base.
In summary:
- Proposition 19 allows homeowners 55 or older (and those with severe disabilities, and victims of wildfires and natural disasters) to transfer their tax assessments anywhere within the state of California.
- Must be a primary residence.
- Eligible homeowners can transfer their tax assessments three times.
- If equal value with no property tax increase, or a more expensive primary residence with an upward adjustment within two years of the sale of the original primary residence.
